Top Songs Trended On Scoop Trends This Week (17th June 2019)
We have had one of the busiest weeks since the year began, and the summer has just began. With a good number of high profile releases, both in South Africa and beyond we were set up for one steamroller week. This week we are launching our Fire Emoji series, which will feature the top songs for the week.
The week began with Drake’s Omerta, which concurrently was rivaled by NBA YoungBoy’s Fathers day release “4 Sons Of A King.” With both songs trending from Sunday through Monday, they appeared to drown all the noise that was previously created by Prince Kaybee’s Gugulethu Video, and King Monada’s Bomme.
Let’s talk about Gugulethu for a bit, the song which has topped the charts in South Africa already looked to replace his previous chart topper “Banomoya,” and with the arrival of a video that featured several big shots including Stoan Galela and Chris Njokwana, Gugulethu set the weekend on fire.
Back to out weekly hits, right… so it all began with The Best In The World Pack that was released by Drake as a way to celebrate the victory secured by his favorite team “Toronto Raptors” in the NBA Finals. Sunday and Monday were dominated by Drake’s Omerta, and NBA YoungBoy’s 4 Sons Of A King.
Tuesday welcomed several good Afro House entries with The Godfathers Of Deep House letting loose the 4th Volume of their Go Nostalgic or Go Home Series. The 10 track EP featured hits such as Offline (Nostalgic Mix) and African Soil (Nostalgic Mix).
Kususa and Argento Dust dropped their collaborative EP Incwadi Encane on Monday night, but it wasn’t until Tuesday that it began to pique momentum. The short EP featured two Original Mixes “Incwadi Encane (Original Mix)” and The Idea (Original Mix).
Other Afro House releases on Tuesday includes, Calvin Fallo – Stop Driver (Amapiano) and Mr Joe – Zombie Man (Original Mix). American MMG rapper, Wale also released his “Folarin 09” while Taylor Swift Shocked the world with “You Need to Calm Down“
At the end of the Tuesday, topping out list of songs were:
