Jose Mourinho has been sack after two and half years in Manchester United.
The Portuguese, has left his job following a very woeful performance at the club securing only the League Cup and the Europa League at Old Trafford.
However United are currently at the 6th on the premier league table with 19 points behind Liverpool who defeated them 3-1 on Sunday at Anfield.
An interim Caretaker manager is set to be appointed until the end of the season.
The club set to have started hunting for a replacement for a new full time manager.
United said in a statement;
“The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.”
Mourinho was hired to replace Louis Van Gaal in 2016 and was tipped to fit into the big shoe left by Alex Ferguson.
He started on very promising note by winning Community Shield in his first match in charge and League Cup with 3-2 win over Southampton.
However, United was very poor in the Premier League but lifted Europa Cup by beating Ajax at the final with 2-0, which gave them automatic qualification to 2017-2018 champions league.
The Red Devil ended the season at second position behind their city’s rival led by Pep Guardiola.
Mourinho led team was sent packing from Champions League by Sevilla in the last 16 and lost the FA Cup final to Chelsea.
The new season has been very bad for the Portuguese coach as he has only won 2 out of the last 8 matches in all the competition.
Also there are reports of unhealthy relationship in the dressing room which has caused so much damage to the team’s performance over the course of the season. Mourinho’s relationship with the World Cup winner Paul Pogba has been a constant talking point.
The club-record signing Paul Pogba has struggled under Mourinho, and this season things seem to have taken a turn for the worse. He has been unable to make the regular top 11 with Pogba.
A lot of people have criticised his unprofessional handling of the internal issues.
Recall that Jose has had problems with virtually most of his players from Juan Mata, to Anthony Martial to Lukaku.
Interestingly, former Real Madrid coach has suffered three defeats that have led to his sack in the various clubs, thanks to Jurgen Klopp.
While in Real Madrid, Klopp led Dortmund defeated Real Madrid 4-1, while at Chelsea, he was sacked after Liverpool 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.
And just yesterday Jurgen Klopp led Liverpool again defeated Mourinho’s side with similar scoreline, which has also led to his sack.
Paul Pogba who was on the bench during the Liverpool 3-1 defeat to Man United at Anfield, has posted an awkward picture with a question to his fans “can you caption this?”
This is coming after it has been confirmed that Jose Mourinho had been sacked as Manchester United manager. But he had hurriedly deleted it due to negative comments that were pouring in his mentions and comments box.
The exit of Mourinho is a good riddiance for Paul Pogba because his future is assured more than ever at the club.
Reports have it that the assistant coach Michael Carrick will be in charge as, he will lead them to the first game on Saturday away at Cardiff City, and the interim manager will be appointed within 3 days.
Meanwhile, Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino, are among the favourites to take the role full-time come the summer.
