Fire destroys Parliament’s Old Assembly building

CAPE TOWN – A fire has left Parliament’s Old Assembly building damaged.

The city’s fire and rescue services managed to contain the blaze.

But, several upper-floor offices and committee rooms were affected.

Several areas on the lower level were also flooded when sprinkler systems went off.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage is being investigated
