Andile Mchunu found dead, killers arrested, #RIPBoBo

Andile Mchunu reportedly dead After Viral Assault following a #JusticeForBobo call on social media, police arrest the perpetrators.

The 16 year old boy was beaten to a pulp by group of men for allegedly stealing Alcohol and Money. The incident was videod nd uploaded on internet.

In the circulated video Bobo was seen begging for mercy and to be spared  while they commanded him to mop up his own blood flowing from his weaken body.

Ever since the upload, persons have been trying to find the whereabouts of Andile Mchunu and even started a #justiceForBobo campaign on Twitter.

A screen grabs from the graphic video According to the description on the video, Bobo’s sister came to fetch him after it was reported that he was being beaten but she was told to go fetch him some clothes and when she came back from fetching the clothes she was told that Andile has escaped. This was the last time she saw him.

Claims that Bobo escaped were hard to believe because his unconscious state according to the video would have made escaping impossible. The community of Hambanathi and South Africa as a whole has been lobbying for justice to be served for Andile Mchunu (Bobo)

The 16-year-old has been missing after he was assaultedThe family from Hambanathi in Tongaat, KwaZulu Natal South Africa said Andile “Bobo” Mchunu, a Grade 12 learner at Nkosibomvu Secondary, was assaulted after being accused of stealing from a local tavern.

Andile’s aunt Sonto Ngidi said the family was alerted last week that he was being beaten at the tavern and when they went there were told he had escaped.

However, the family believes he would not have been able to escape because of the condition he was in.

The family said they had not seen the video but had heard of its gruesome nature.

In the video, the person filming walks in shouting Andile’s name, telling him to get up and clean the place. The person pushes him with a stick telling him to turn over.

A powerless Andile says his body is in pain as he turns to the camera revealing his battered face. The person then pushes him over with his foot and Andile rolls over on to his back. He struggles to sit up and the person again tells him to get up and clean the room.

“We are too scared to even see the video,” said Ngidi.

She said last Tuesday some people came to their home in a car looking for Andile, who was not home. She said the family learnt later that day that Andile was seen being pulled into the same car, allegedly by the tavern owner.

“A young boy we know came to our house and told us that Bobo was being assaulted at the (tavern). When we asked him what condition he was in, he said Bobo had been lying limp with his left eye closed and his right opened but it was rolled back and it was white,” said Ngidi.

She said when the family arrived at the lounge they were told he escaped.

“They said they don’t know where he is and believe he was killed for a crime he didn’t commit” she said.

Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed that they see the case as kidnapping and thus the police is investigating a case of kidnapping.

The suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Andile Mcchunu. This was after the community of Hambanathi initiated a powerful social media campaign to find him under the hashtag #justiceforbobo after he was seen on video being beaten, brutalized, and barely conscious at a local tarven called Magagula lounge.

He was beaten until his whole body went numb of pain and he eventually succumbed to his injuries. Andile’s lifeless body was then dumped in Newtown River by the perpetrators to destroy evidence linking them to the murder. Three suspects in his kidnapping and subsequent murder have also been arrested following a confession by the perpetrators who were identified as Luyanda.

Meanwhile his remain has been found, Spokesperson Brigadear Jay Naicker says discovered remains will be sent for forensic analysis. The search & rescue team’s been searching for a missing Gr12 pupil from Tongaat. He was last seen being beaten at a local Tarven for alleged alcohol theft.

Tense situation in Hambanathi Township in Tongaat. Angry community members want to approach the famous lounge in the area where Andile “Bobo” Mchunu was last seen, being allegedly beaten for allegedly stealing alcohol.

According to the Aunt the police were notified when he was still being assaulted and they were told to come back the following day. It is sad Andile is leaving in through this means.
